System Requirements
The IHS QPR Suicide Prevention Course is delivered in an online learning management system that uses your web browser and your internet connection.
Preferred Web Browsers: Chrome or Firefox
This course is browser-based, and the preferred web browsers are Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. If you have a choice of which web browser to use, use Chrome or Firefox for the best performance.
You can download and install Google Chrome (free) or Mozilla Firefox (free).
Important: Internet Explorer is not a supported browser, and the course will not work well using Internet Explorer.
Other Requirements
You can use a desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone to access the course, as long as it has the following:
- The most recent version of Chrome or Firefox
- Javascript enabled
- PDF plugin installed
- Broadband internet connection with a speed of 5Mbps (recommended) for videos – if your internet speed is slower, see how to fix bandwidth issues
Troubleshooting steps / The course isn't working in my browser.
Because the course is browser-based, playback issues may happen inside the browser you are using. Here are steps to troubleshoot issues with your browser:
- Clear your cache and restart the browser. Also check if you’re using the newest version of the browser. (Instructions to clear your browser cache.)
- Try a different browser. Chrome and Firefox work the best with this system.
- Try an Incognito / Private Window. (This will rule out an issue with browser extensions.)
- Restart your computer, tablet, or phone. (It's a cliche but it works!)
- If possible, try a different device.
- If possible, try a different internet connection. School or organizational firewalls occasionally block our video provider.
These troubleshooting steps can help you resolve issues like:
- the lesson doesn't load
- the lesson freezes or won't play
If these troubleshooting steps do not work, please contact Tech Support at [email protected].
Choppy video / Bandwidth issues
Our online education system needs an internet connection to deliver the course information to you.
The minimum streaming connection is 0.768 megabits per second (Mbps), and a connection of at least 5 Mbps is recommended for the best video experience.
We understand that you may not have access to a high bandwidth internet connection. If the video and audio are interrupted, choppy, or fail to load, try adjusting the videos to play at a lower quality, which uses less bandwidth. In the player, open Settings from the gear icon at bottom right, click Quality, and pick a lower number.
Revisit the Course Instructions
To review how to perform the main tasks in the online course, please revisit the instructions on how to use the course. The instructions have descriptions and pictures of what to do inside the course player, like how to complete a lesson or adjust the video volume.
